Downtown Hudson store closing

Lil' Honey's Boutique, a children's clothing and gift store in downtown Hudson, will be closing its doors for good at the end of May.

Owner Mary Johnson has decided to decided to turn the page on another chapter in her life after operating the shop at 408 Second St. for nearly three years.

Ever since a brutal attack against her occurred in the store on August 16, 2005, her heart was no longer in it, Johnson said in a news release announcing the store closing.

With several years of experience in the retail management field, her dream was to own and operate her own store and, having accomplished that, she has decided not to renew her lease and will be moving on.

All remaining merchandise, display racks, shelves and equipment are clearance priced to sell prior to closing, the news release says.

Johnson said she was grateful to her family members for their efforts, encouragement and sacrifice in helping her to make this dream possible.

She also appreciated "the wonderful and caring persons" who stepped forward after the attack to offer their support, friendship and encouragement during a most difficult time. And she appreciated the patronage of customers from Hudson and the surrounding communities, as well as landlord Jeff Johnson and his employees at Johnson Body Shop.

In closing, Mary Johnson (no relation to body shop owner Jeff Johnson) encouraged Hudson residents to support their local, downtown merchants.

Johnson can be contacted at (715) 531-0821.
