Bands performing at Booster Days

Parachute Empire (Saturday, July 6)

Founded in Minneapolis, Parachute Empire has been playing a brand of rock and roll that is inspired by the folk and rock legends of the 60s and 70s. With one foot in the past and one in the present, they try to blend the sounds in a way that invokes something special in the listener.

Kingsview (Thursday, July 4)

Kingsview is a Minneapolis-based alternative rock band that plays original acoustic, piano and alternative rock music. The band is led by brothers Brian and Joe Hendrickson who play guitar and piano while sharing lead singer duties. Peder Lindberg on the drums and Dan Lysaker on the bass are the glue that keeps the band grooving from song to song.

Scarlet County (Wednesday, July 3)

No mopey country here! This band rocks your socks off. From the high energy vocalists, to the shredding yet tasteful guitar licks to the kick-butt rhythm section, this band brings the heat. See if you can decide who is most impressive! The singers just deliver song after song of listen-able tunes.

Caleb Hawley (Thursday, July 4)

Hudson Boosters are excited to have Hudson native and 2011 "American Idol" contestant, Caleb Hawley, return to his hometown for a special Independence Day concert at Lakefront Park.

You might recognize the Hudson native Caleb Hawley from Season 10 of "American Idol," when he had Aerosmith icon Steven Tyler singing along and jamming out, while recognizing him as "Something new and something different." In addition to his stint in reality TV this blue-eyed soul singer has toured the country along with his "merch-dog" Fargo, playing nearly 1,000 shows over the past four years.

Rizer (Friday, July 5)

Another band with strong Hudson ties, Rizer has been knocking crowds out in clubs and private parties for 20 years. The band serves up a hot platter of classic and new rock with a side order of R&B. Ingredient list includes The Stones, Lynard Skynard, Billy Joel, Tom Petty,and The Doobie Brothers.

How have these five guys stayed together for 20 years? Each member has been around enough to know how rare it is to find talented players who are also committed to the same thing, Good times and rock & roll.

Devon Worley Band (Friday, July 5)

The fans believe in the Devon Worley Band. With its devoted following, the Devon Worley Band is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the Midwest's country music scene.

This multi-piece band is an eclectic mix of experience and recognition, distilled from their country, blues and classic rock influences into a lively and fun, always heartfelt, show full of boundless energy and great sound. This is evidenced with bookings stretching a year in advance at local and regional music festivals, fairs, clubs, bars and more.

Devon Worley is a teenage country singer, songwriter and guitarist who is known for her powerful voice, wide vocal range, dynamic performances and commanding stage presence.

School of Rock (Saturday, July 6)

Come down to the bandshell immediately following the parade to see the stars of tomorrow perform.

School of Rock teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards, drums and combines weekly private music lessons and group band rehearsals to prepare students to take the stage in front of live audiences in an authentic concert setting.

Uncle Chunk (Saturday, July 6)

One of the best Twin Cities party bands since 1996, Uncle Chunk will bring their brand of modern alternative rock back to Booster Days for the ninth year in a row. We saved the best for last this year, so bring your family friends down early to sing dance along, and then stay late for the fireworks!

Doug Stohlberg

Doug Stohlberg has been part of the Hudson Star-Observer since 1973 and has been editor since 1987. He worked at the New Richmond News from 1971 to 1973. He holds a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.
