Thousands attend Tri-Angels 5K to honor Schaffhausen girls

Jessica Schaffhausen -- mother of Amara, Sophie and Cecilia -- smiles to the crowd just after finishing the Tri-Angels 5K Fun Run at Hoffman Park on Saturday, July 20, 2013. The event was put on to honor the memory of Schaffhausen's three girls and to help raise money to have a playground built in their memory. Police estimate more than 3,000 people participated in and watched the event.

Thousands of people packed Hoffman Park Saturday morning to participate in and watch the Tri-Angels 5K Fun Run in memory of Amara, Sophie and Cecilia Schaffhausen, and to kickoff fundraising efforts to have a new playground built in their memory.

Those interested in giving to the cause can send donations to Tri-Angels Playground at P.O. Box 141, River Falls, WI 54022.
