'Santa and His Critters' come to town

It's a new name but the same Saturday full of children's activities during Celebrate the Holidays in Hudson. The previously named Reindeer by the Park has become Santa and His Critters and will be held noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at River City Center.

The popular event is highlighted by Santa's arrival in a fire truck and then he greets children for the afternoon at Riverfront Athletic Club.

Critter viewing will be both inside Angel's Pet World and outside in the River City Center parking lot. Inside, visitors will see dogs from Coco's Heart Pet Rescue and cats from the Dunn County Humane Society. Outside is a raptor program by Carpenter Nature Center, a full petting zoo from Fantasy Corral and sled dogs from SISU — Elite Canine Sports.

Santa's Workshop will include make-and-take crafts and ornaments, along with a mini hot cocoa mix bar and magic reindeer food. Free Santa pictures will be taken plus children can meet the North Hudson Pepper Fest Royalty, a real life snow queen and her royal guard.

Back by popular demand is the ice carving demonstration, a bake and craft sale, and musical entertainment by the Hudson High School choir and The Attendants.

The Celebrate the Holidays commemorative buttons and note cards will be for sale. The 2017 souvenirs feature a beautiful and festive downtown Hudson holiday scene painted by local artist Jeanette Richards.
