“Come with Me” by club member Willie Gorham, was awarded first-place realistic image for the club’s 2017 year end. Gorham is a Hudson resident.

The Western Wisconsin Photography Club's March meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the River Room at the Phipps Center for the Arts will feature Wendy Maybury. Maybury's presentation will cover some behind the scenes in working with famous photographer Mary Ellen Mark as well as her own photographic journey working in many aspects of professional photography. She will give some practical advice in bringing out the best in any subject, tips in creating genuine expressions in front of the camera and some easy to use ideas on posing, locations and how to talk to people to help them enjoy being photographed. Maybury will use her skills as a stand-up comedian to keep the presentation entertaining as well as help you learn to inject a little bit of humor into your photography.

Maybury graduated from James Madison University with a degree in teaching and Hallmark Institute of Photography. She worked with photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark, Ross Whitaker and Jerry Avenaim. She has photographed album covers, authors, explorers, musicians, comedians and a ton of families, weddings and babies.

The club is a group of photography enthusiasts of all ages, interests, and abilities and is a member of the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs and the North Central Camera Club Council. Meetings are both social and educational and are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month at the Phipps Center for the Arts. Additional special meetings are also scheduled to accommodate speakers and hands-on workshops and group shooting opportunities. The public is welcome to attend meetings or to become a member.
