Counselors will be at Campbellsport High School on Monday as classes resume for the first time since nine soccer teammates were involved in an SUV crash early Saturday.

Three girls were killed and six others were still hospitalized as of Sunday night.

Sixteen-year-old Katie Berg died Sunday. Fifteen-year-old Sabrina Stahl and 17-year-old Caitlin Scannell, daughter of Campbellsport soccer coach Tim Scannell, died at the scene.

All nine were on the school's varsity and junior varsity soccer teams.

Authorities said the SUV, driven by 18-year-old Carly Ottery, was speeding when it veered into a ditch and rolled over. It happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the bottom of a large hill on Beechnut Road just north of Hwy. 67.

Fond du Lac County sheriff's deputies said high speed and a failure to wear seat belts were factors in the crash. The sheriff's department said alcohol, drugs and the weather were not factors.

Sergeant Ryan Waldschmidt said officers have preliminary information on what the girls were doing, but they're still not totally sure why they were out so late.

A vigil for the students was held Saturday at a church in nearby Eden.

Many people gathered at Campbellsport High School yesterday, where a candlelight vigil took place last evening.

Ottery and another 18-year-old woman were both in satisfactory condition at last word at a Fond du Lac Hospital. Four 16- and-17-year-olds were still in serious condition at Milwaukee Children's Hospital.
