38 new faces join Hudson's school district
Among the fresh faces that started school in Hudson yesterday are 38 new staff members including teachers and other specialists. Thirty six are featured on pages 10A and 11A of the Sept. 2 Hudson Star-Observer print edition.
Hudson is a popular place to work judging by the number of applications for the available positions. The number of applications for jobs ranged from a minimum of 25 to 100 for almost all of the elementary teaching positions.
Most of the new employees are filling existing positions but there are five new jobs including kindergarten teachers, an early childhood specialist, a reading and communications teacher at Hudson Middle School and a second Mandarin Chinese teacher.
Teachers have already been at work for more than a week preparing for students. Hudson School District enrollment is expected to exceed last year's official student count of 5,426. Enrollment at Hudson's parochial schools last year was approximately 650. Around 120 students in Hudson were home-schooled last year.
The official enrollment count for this school year will be taken on Sept. 17.
