After GM shutdown unemployment climbs above 11 percent in Janesville
Unemployment in Janesville continues to skyrocket in the wake of the December shutdown at General Motors.
The city's jobless rate jumped to 11.6 percent in January, up from 8.1 percent in December, and 5.4 the previous year.
Milwaukee's unemployment rate was the highest for a January since 1990, 7.1 percent, up by almost 2.5 points over the past year.
State officials said all 12 of Wisconsin's metro areas had fewer jobs and higher unemployment last month.
