Appreciated Memorial speech
I found it hard to believe that a letter writer could find fault with Sgt. Schauf's speech at the Memorial Day ceremony at Willow River Cemetery. I must have heard a different speech - the theme seemed to echo the words of the late President Kennedy, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
While the words may have been different, the theme between the two combat veterans 50 years apart seemed to be the same. Unfortunately, the previous letter writer seems to have only heard one phrase that he did not like in a 10-minute speech and ignored all the rest.
