Artists sought for bench project
The Phipps Center for the Arts is seeking local artists from the St. Croix Valley region to facilitate two community art projects in Somerset and Prescott. Application deadline is Friday, March 7.
These projects are part of an ongoing program known as the Bench Project, which is intended to build social relationships among an engaged group of participants using the arts as a vehicle, and to create community arts projects that will attract both local residents and visitors to the the St. Croix Valley. Active engagement by local community groups to design, create, locate and care for a unique bench is at the heart of this project.
Each bench will be constructed by members of the group involved under the guidance of an artist or craftsperson. The facilitating artist will receive an honorarium of up to $3,000 for their participation.
To apply, please send up to 20 images of previous work (as slides or on a disc), a resume and cover letter by Friday, March 7, to The Phipps Center for the Arts, Attention: The Bench Project, 109 Locust St., Hudson WI 54016.
