August Blues to perform Aug. 6 in Lakefront Park
The featured performers at Tuesday’s Concert in the Park are the acoustic trio August Blues. They are Hudson High School seniors McKenna Selissen, Cavan Denning and Dylan White. The three have been playing music together since middle school and formed their acoustic band in February of 2012.
Since then, they have performed at coffeehouses, for special events and benefits, the Minneapolis Childrens Hospital and this spring played at the Artists’ Quarter and First Avenue/7th Street Entry. They have also performed several times this summer as the pre-game band for the St. Paul Saints, and will be playing at Midway Stadium again on Aug. 19.
The band specializes in putting their own soulful acoustic twist to cover songs, in addition to performing original music. They recorded their first CD “Out of the Blue” last August and hope to have a second finished by the end of summer.
Selissen is the group’s vocalist and has sung the National Anthem at various sporting events including for the St. Paul Saints, Minnesota Lynx , the Canadian and US anthems for the Milwaukee Brewers last year and was invited back to sing again last month. Joining them for some of their songs on vocals and guitar will be local musician and recent Hudson High School graduate Ben Tresselt.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the bandshell in Lakefront Park.
