Freeway crash brings Hudson traffic to a crawl

Autumn bicycle trek marks a decade

The 10th annual Autumn Trek through the St. Croix River Valley will get under way Sept. 21.

Registration for the bicycle event begins at 7:30 a.m. at Hoffman Park in River Falls with an estimated completion at 3:30 p.m.

River Valley Trails Bicycle Group, which sponsors the event, said six scenic county routes from family-friendly to the ultimate challenge make up the 2008 autumn trek.

The trails included easy to moderate rides of 17 and 24 miles along the Kinnickinnic River; moderate 45- and 51-mile Trimbelle River trails that head south of River Falls then back to Hoffman Park.

More challenging routes include the 65-mile Trimbelle River Rumble that heads south and returns to Hoffman Park and the 101-mile Century Challenge that adds an extra loop to the Trimble River Run.

Proceeds from the Autumn Trek are used to promote bicycle safety in west central Wisconsin river valleys.
