Part of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band paid another visit to Kozy Korner Pizza & Sports Bar in North Hudson Friday morning on its way to the Big Ten hockey tournament in St. Paul.

The pep band entered the establishment playing “On, Wisconsin!” and offered a couple of more Badger Band standards before sitting down to breakfast.

Around 40 or 50 Badger fans were there to welcome the pep band.

The visits to Kozy Korner have become a tradition for the Wisconsin Band when it treks to the Twin Cities for a Badger sports event.

Kozy Korner owner Scott Nelson has had a relationship with the band since the 1990s, when he first invited members to stop by for pizza after a concert.

The group that came through North Hudson last weekend must have done its job of inspiring the Badger men’s hockey team and fans. The Badgers beat Penn State 2-1 on Friday afternoon and captured the tournament crown with 5-4 overtime defeat of Ohio State Saturday evening.

The message board in front of Kozy Korner said the pep band would be visiting the establishment on Saturday, too.
