Badgers recall last year's second-half collapse against Michigan; face Wolverines Saturday
Wisconsin may be a clear favorite against Michigan on Saturday in Madison.
But the Badgers say they won't forget what happened a year ago, when they led the Wolverines 19-0 at the half and lost by two points at Ann Arbor.
Safety Jay Valai said he remembered how the Badgers joked with swimming star Michael Phelps on the sideline during the first half and then felt invincible going into the tunnel at the intermission.
Valai called the loss demoralizing, and it lingered for weeks in the Badger locker room as the team proceeded to fall to Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa.
This year, the Badgers bounced back from two straight losses with a pair of wins over Purdue and Indiana.
And they're 4-2 in the Big Ten, while Michigan comes in at 1-5.
Saturday is also the Badgers' home finale, when the seniors will be honored. Fifth-year senior O'Brien Schofield says he's circled the date on his calendar and he's sure the Badgers will be prepared for a tough four quarters against the Wolverines.
