Badgers will practice in full pads today
The Wisconsin football team will practice in full pads today for the first time at their pre-season camp.
The camp opened on Monday, as the Badgers get ready for their season opener on Sept. 5 at home against Northern Illinois.
Running back John Clay says he's ready. And his endurance is stronger, after Badgers' strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert put Clay through additional workouts this summer.
His body fat has been reduced, and Herbert says Clay is more ready to handle the stresses his lower body will take as the starting tailback this season.
Clay, a third-year sophomore from Racine, averaged almost 12 carries a game behind P.J. Hill last year. He ran for 884 yards with nine touchdowns.
