Barbershop choruses offer activities

The Croix Chordsmen men's chorus and Vallee de Croix women's chorus invite the public to upcoming events.

Croix Chordsmen Barbershoppers are singing music of the '50s and '60s at their annual spring concert at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Stillwater Area High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 to $12; call (651) 308-5775.

The barbershoppers are holding guest nights April 21, 28 and May 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 Fifth St. S., Stillwater, Minn., for men who might be interested in singing with the chorus. The evenings begin at 7:15.

"You don't have to read music to learn to sing with the Chordsmen," said Adam Blegen, chorus guest coordinator. "The guests will also sing with the chorus right away and hear some of the chapter quartets do their stuff." For more information, or to get a ride, call (651) 230-4272.

Family and friends of the Vallee de Croix Chorus are invited to a sneak preview of the chorus's 2009 competition package when they host their annual Family and Friends Night at 8 p.m. Monday, April 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stillwater.

The evening will include numbers by the chorus and quartets, along with refreshments. For more information, call (651) 739-8635 or visit www.valleedecroix.org.

Members in both choruses come from throughout western Wisconsin and the east metro.
