The Hudson River Rats snapped a three-game losing streak by putting together three straight wins over the weekend, including a pair of St. Croix Valley Baseball League victories at Ellsworth and Spring Valley.

Hudson scored 11 runs with two outs in the top of the first on its way to a 20-8 win over the Ellsworth Hubbers Friday night, June 29. The Rats came back to edge the Spring Valley Hawks, 5-4, Saturday night before posting an 8-6 nonleague victory over the Haugen Hornets Sunday afternoon at Grandview Park.

The River Rats, now 4-5 in SCVBL play, visit the Plum City Blues (3-7) for their only game of the weekend this Saturday, July 7, at 1 p.m. Next Saturday, July 14, they visit the Hager City Skeeters (4-7) before returning home to host the Elmwood Expos (5-4) Sunday, July 15, at 1 p.m.

Hudson is currently in third place in the Eau Galle Division of the SCVBL, one game behind Elmwood. River Falls is in first with a record of 6-0. Prescott leads the St. Croix Division at 9-1 and has clinched a spot in the Wisconsin Baseball Association playoffs while Menomonie and Osceola are tied for first in the Red Cedar Division at 7-2.

The River Rats need to win four of their remaining six SCVBL games in order to qualify for the WBA playoffs.
