When the principal calls, students, even ones long graduated, still listen.

Hudson High School Principal Ed Lucas reached out to one of his former students from Prescott, television meteorologist and personality Belinda Jensen, and she has agreed to be the master of ceremonies for the Youth Action Hudson talent show at Hudson High School March 14 (the date of March 20 was incorrect in last week's Star-Observer).

Jensen is a member of the KARE 11 meteorology team as well co-host of "KARE 11 Saturday" and a regular contributor to "Minnesota Bound."

"On the Road to Stardom: Hudson Youth Have Talent" is open to all high school-age students and is sponsored by Youth Action Hudson (formerly Community Action). Lucas is a member of the organization's board of directors.

Auditions

In order to participate in the talent show, all participants must be available to audition between 6-10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, for musical acts and Thursday, Feb. 26, for drama, variety and dance. All acts must register by Feb. 18.

If members of an act are not available at the designated time, they must submit their audition on video by the day and time of their designated audition.

Auditions will be judged by two adults and two students. All participants will be notified of their selection a week after auditions.

Registration forms are available at Principal Ed Lucas' office at HHS. The completed forms should be returned to his office with the $10 registration fee (per act) no later than Feb. 18.

Acts may sign up for on-stage rehearsals at the HHS auditorium for March 3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A mandatory dress and technical rehearsal will be March 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Show

On the evening of the performance, Friday, March 14, doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7. Admission for the show is $10. Awards will be made in each category, and an Audience Choice Award will be determined by applause.

Contestants not selected for the final talent show will have an opportunity to perform in front of the Hudson student body on March 20.
