Benefit auction features totem pole by celebrity carvers
The Family Resource Center's 'Reach for the Stars' gala is Sunday evening
A totem pole like the one featured in the television show "Grey's Anatomy" will be auctioned off in a benefit for the Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley on Sunday, April 27.
The "Reach for the Stars" gala will held at the R&D Banquet Facility in New Richmond beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Carl and Linda Muggli have donated the seven-foot totem pole for the sale, which will be auctioneered by Tom Morris.
The Mugglis created the Northwest Coast native-inspired poles featured in the TV show and the movie "Hoot." The pole they donated to the Family Resource Center is hand-carved, features traditional symbols and is valued at more than $1,400.
Other novelty items that Morris will auction off at the Western-themed gala include a trip to a Western town in Montana, a handmade cowboy quilt, pottery, gourmet cakes and more.
Also featured are music by country western band "Stampede," dancing, a Western-themed buffet, keepsake photos, calf-roping and prizes for the best Western costume. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. It's a "not-to-be-missed event," according to organizers.
Admission is $25 per person; for reservations, call the Family Resource Center at (715) 684-4440.
Proceeds help the Family Resource Center celebrate its 10th year of service to children and families. The center is an early childhood development, family support and parent education organization serving all families in St. Croix, Pierce and Polk counties.
