Benefit helps local pet rescue groups
Santa visited Chinchil-la Gallery, 414 1st St., Saturday, Dec. 8, to help celebrate the first annual December's Second Saturday Event "Santa, Belle & Friends Benefit."
Belle, a 4-year-old Entlebucher Mountain Dog, which is a rare European breed in the states, was turned into a shelter in Nova Scotia as a stray, suffering from a broken jaw and other health problems. Belle was taken in my NEMDA (National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Assoc.) breed rescue group and then later adopted by Chinchil-la owners, Dave and Mimi Koch, last December.
"Belle is an old soul," said Dave. "She fit right in, it seems like she has been with us forever. She loves greeting all visitors who come to Chinchil-la, which is her domain."
Now happy and healthy, Belle was co-host to the event where dogs, kids and adults had their photos taken with Santa by photographer Cheryl Fritz. Customers all received a complementary photo card of the event. A free will donation jar filled up with gifts of money, which will be donated to local pet rescue groups. Cookies, dog treats were enjoyed, hot cocoa warmed everyone.
