Bike time trials set May 11
The Hudson-based Big Ring Flyers is hosting its annual time trial May 11 in the town of St. Joseph. A time trial is a road race against the clock where riders start individually. The fastest time (men's and women's) over a 19.3-mile course earns the top spot for the day and bragging rights for a year.
For people looking to make a foray into bike racing, the "stock" division allows riders to compete on road bikes without having to spend a huge chunk of money on bikes and other aero equipment. The individual TT division lets riders use their aerodynamic investments to the maximum.
Registration for the event opens at 8 a.m. with the first rider starting at 10 a.m. The time trial starts from the intersection of County I and Valley View Trail. Parking and registration is provided at a near-by farm.
Registration ranges from $10 for youth to $25 for adults. There are discounts for college students, family entries and pre-registration (through May 4).
The event is part of the WiSport Series of races (www.wisport.org).
