All types of boats are welcome to gather on Lake Mallalieu in the bay west of the Second Street bridge prior to the start of the parade. Lake Mallalieu is located on the Wisconsin side of the St. Croix River between Hudson and North Hudson.

Boats should begin gathering early in order to be ready for the 1 p.m. start. Patriotic decorations of flags, balloons and streamers are encouraged, but boat owners should be careful to ensure decorations are well secured to prevent pollution. Boats will travel slowly in a counter-clockwise direction around the lake, culminating at Sally's Alley Bay. Activities following the parade include water volleyball, relaxing and socializing in the shallows at the far eastern side of the lake.

Lake property owners are encouraged to participate by either joining the parade or observing from their docks.

Participating boaters are welcome to bring friends and neighbors. If using the boat ramp, factor in extra time and alternate parking arrangements since the ramp area is busy on the Fourth. There is no direct access from the St. Croix River onto Lake Mallalieu.

Spectators can watch the parade from the bridge over the lake or from the public boat landing on the Hudson side. There is no event coordinator this year, so participants should just join the crowd and enjoy the day.
