Boosters to host huge softball tourney Saturday, July 30
The largest youth softball tournament ever hosted by the Hudson Boosters will take place on Saturday, July 30.
Forty-six girls' fastpitch softball teams from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin will be participating in the Fifth Annual Hudson Boosters 2011 Season Ending Extravaganza Fastpitch Tournament. The tournament will take place at the fields at the Grandview Softball Complex, Hudson Town Hall and The Hudson Boosters Fields, which are located at the Rod and Gun Club, starting at 8 a.m.
This one day event is geared for youth fastpitch teams from low level competitive/recreational teams to community based Class A teams. The age brackets for the tournament are 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. Ten teams from the Hudson Boosters Fastpitch Program will battle the other 36 teams from as far away as Rochester, Superior, Rice Lake and Onalaska.
In its five year history, this tournament has grown from a five-team 10U tournament to this year's 46 team field. Many returning teams, including New Richmond, River Falls, Stillwater and Superior, will participate for the multiple set of medals.
Each of the 10U-16U teams will play four games throughout the day. As a bonus, The Hudson Booster Glitter Hitters, an 8U Machine Pitch team, will battle the Baldwin Woodville 8U Hawkettes at 11:30 a.m. at the Booster Fields. A total of 89 games will be played throughout the day.
