Brewers sign catcher George Kottaras off waivers from Boston
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed catcher George Kottaras off waivers from Boston.
Kotteras, 26, was drafted by San Diego in 2002. He played in 45 games for the Red Sox this year, batting .237 with one homer and 10 RBI's.
Meanwhile, FoxSports.com says free agent starter Jarrod Washburn wants to play with either Milwaukee or Minnesota, in order to play close to his home at Webster in northwest Wisconsin.
He said he's not sure how much interest the Brewers or Twins might have and he said his surgically-repaired left knee feels good right now.
Washburn, 35, a left-hander, was traded from Seattle to Detroit last July.
But he fizzled with the Tigers, with a 7.33 ERA in eight starts.
Detroit says it will not try to re-sign Washburn.
