Bridge and KCs announce Bowl-a-rama
The Hudson Knights of Columbus organization is sponsoring the fourth annual Bridge Bowl-a-rama at Hudson Bowling Center in Plaza 94 from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
Bowl-a-rama is the most important fund-raiser of the year for Bridge with Youth with Disabilities. The event also brings the community together and increases awareness of the need for programs and living options for young people with disabilities as they enter adulthood.
Bowl-a-rama features special-needs Bridge bowlers from Hudson and the surrounding communities. There will be 32 teams this year composed of the Bridge bowlers, students from Hudson High School and UW-River Falls who volunteer as mentors, and adults from the community who will serve as team captains and team mates.
"We really have two goals this year," said Bridge board member Tom Hackworthy. "We hope to raise $25,000 to support ongoing Bridge programs that allow youth and young adults with disabilities in the St. Croix River Valley to participate in ongoing recreational activities, attend year-round day-service programs and socialize with friends. We also want to get the community involved in our organization's vision - that youth and others with disabilities will be seen as community assets to be nurtured and developed so that they can become welcome, productive and engaged citizens."
There are many ways to participate. Businesses and organizations that sponsor Bowl-a-rama will be recognized at the event for their leadership and citizenship. Individuals can sponsor Bridge bowlers. To participate as a supporting sponsor, make a pledge or to donate a door prize, contact Bridge Executive Director Peg Gagnon at (715) 381-8230. Donations are tax deductible.
