Bucks' Jennings cleared for today's practice; explains YouTube clip
The Milwaukee Bucks' first-round draft choice is expected to practice with his new team for the first time today.
Point guard Brandon Jennings sat out Monday's workout, because the governing body for international basketball had not cleared him to play yet.
Jennings spent the last year in Italy with the Lottomatica Roma squad.
The Bucks made him the 10th overall pick in last month's draft.
They're holding a series of practices this week to get ready for the NBA Summer League, which begins on Friday in Las Vegas.
The Bucks will open Friday night against Dallas. Assistant coach Kelvin Sampson said it was vital that Jennings, 19, have the mentality of a point guard, and be a strong and immediate leader on the floor.
But that shouldn't be a problem for Jennings.
Sampson said with all due respect that Jennings had a very high opinion of himself.
He showed it last week, when he was shown on YouTube telling rapper Joe Budden that Luke Ridnour would be his back-up, and point guard Ramon Sessions probably wouldn't return to the Bucks.
Jennings said he didn't realize he was being videotaped.
And while he said he was joking, Jennings admitted he was wrong for talking about team business which he had no idea about.
