Contest has scholarship

Craig Hofland Allstate Insurance Agency and Citizens State Bank are co-sponsoring a Teen Safe Driving essay contest - the winner, selected May 30, will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used for post-secondary education. "Teenage drivers are more likely to be in a motor vehicle crash than any other age group," said Hofland. "We need to keep finding new and creative ways to keep this issue in front of our teenagers." The contest is open to drivers who have received their driver's licenses in the past 18 months and those who anticipate getting their licenses within the coming six months. The 500-1,000-word essay must include three components -- What do you consider safe driving tips? What do you do to be a safe driver? How do you promote safe driving to your peers? Deadline for submission is May 26. Entries can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Allstate Office at 2920 Enloe St. #102, Hudson. Entries will be judged by Bob Branson, Hudson High School driver education teacher. For more information, contact Hofland at (715) 377-0003 or fax (715) 377-0253.
