Bystanders rescue young girls from Lake Michigan
Two young girls were rescued late Thursday, when they apparently walked off a sandbar and fell into deep water in Sheboygan.
Police said a six-year-old girl was in critical condition at last word at Milwaukee Children's Hospital.
A seven-year-old was not seriously hurt, but was taken to a Sheboygan hospital to get checked out.
Police said family members took the girls to the Lake Michigan beach.
Some teens on a jet ski rescued the six-year-old after a bystander flagged them down.
The seven-year-old was saved by a woman walking on the beach. She swam to the sandbar, and pulled the youngster back to shore. An ambulance crew got to the scene a little before 6 p.m. Thursday.
