Car-Truck crash near Glenwood City claims first victim
Snow covered roads led to the first traffic fatality of the year in St. Croix County Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff Dennis Hillstead said Carrie A. Lehmann, 24, Menomonie, died at the scene on Hwy 29 near Hwy 128 in the town of Cady.
Lehmann was traveling east in a 2007 Ford Taurus when she lost control going around a curve on the snowy road. The car slid sideways into the opposite lane. She was hit by a 1999 Isuzu Truck, owned by Advanced Dairy Systems, Inc., Spring Valley and driven by Ricky De Motts, 45, Woodville.
The mishap occurred at 4:42 p.m. Feb. 18 about one-tenth mile east of Hwy 29. Both De Motts and Lehmann were wearing seatbelts, the Sheriff said.
Last year 11 persons were killed on county roadways.
