Director Kasey Tunell directs a talented cast of area students in grades 7-9.

It's the 1950s, hula-hoops are in high demand, and so is Little Red Riding Hood (Annalee Kroll, Hudson). Wise Prince Jason (Braden Hannafee-Major, Hudson), Strong Prince Justin (Christopher Lueneburg, Hudson), and ordinary Loud Prince Frank (Jack Clauss, River Falls) all want to woo Red Riding Hood.

So the king and queen (Elliot Wareham and Charlie Thompson, Hudson) hire the Fairy Godmother (Kate Malanaphy, Hudson) to set three tasks for the princes. Only the prince who can find the missing girl, defeat the dragon, and awaken a castle visitor from her slumber will earn the right to woo Red Riding Hood.

Alas, Little Red's couch-potato parents (Graham Fisher and Andrea Wildes, Hudson) don't want to lose their little girl. So they hire the evil queen (Elizabeth Yeske, Hudson) to thwart the Fairy Godmother's contest. Luckily, Little Red Riding Hood's two sisters, Big Green Riding Hood Sophie Tuchel, Hudson) and Medium Purple Riding Hood (Bridget Smith, Stillwater), help balance out the situation.

The cast also features Ruby Johnson and Celia Duffee , Hudson, as the narrators; Rebecca Nelson, Oakdale, Minn., as Emma; Emily Hanson, Hudson, as Sophie; KC Schomas, Hudson, as the grandmother; Taylar Gergen, River Falls, as Louise; Clara Malanaphy, Hudson, as the Big Bad Wolf; Kelly Waid, Hudson, as Oswald; Alex Bourdeau, Hudson, as Gerald; and Caroline Allessi, Stillwater, Xena VanDusartz, Hammond, Sam Allen, Hank Brekke, Paige Davidson, Emma Olson, as well as Natalie Wareham, all of Hudson, as the chorus.

"Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood" will be performed from April 26-29 on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. on the main stage.

Tickets are $10 for children and $12 for all adults. Reservations may be made by contacting The Phipps ticket office at (715) 386-8409 or www.ThePhipps.org.
