Email News Alerts

Cedarburg Police say a resident used his vehicle to block a hit and run driver just moments after a fatal motorcycle crash.

Investigators said John Kastelic, 59, of Richfield turned left in the path of an oncoming motorcycle on Sunday afternoon and their collision killed the biker, Donald Lalonde Jr., 37, of Mequon.

As witnesses tended to the injured motorcyclist, one person yelled for somebody to get the license plate of the hit and run vehicle.

And Keith Wischer drove after the suspect's vehicle and found that it blew a tire out from the collision.

He said he asked that driver, Kastelic, to stop and then another man and Wischer used their vehicles to block Kastelic in until officers could arrest him.

Wischer said it was the right thing to do.

Kastelic was charged Monday in Ozaukee County with homicide by drunken driving, and hit and run causing death.

A judge set his bond at $100,000.
