The Phipps Festival Chorus and The Phipps Oratorio Society will combine to present "A Choral Christmas Festival" on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

The first half of the program will be performed by The Phipps Festival Chorus. Selections include "Hail, Christmas Day" by Minnesota composer Abbie Betinis, "Gloria to God in the Highest" by Pergolesi, "Sure on this Shining Night" by Morten Lauridsen, "Alleluia" by Randall Thompson, "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" arranged by Jerry Rubino, "Throw the Yule Log On, Uncle John" by P.D.Q. Bach (Peter Schikele), "Angel's Carol" by John Rutter, "Stay With Us" by Egil Hovland, and "African Noel" arranged by Andre Thomas.

The combined choirs will sing the second half of the program, performing "Gloria" by Vivaldi, "For Unto Us a Child is Born" from "Messiah" by Handel, "The First Noel" arranged by David Willcocks, "Christmas Night" by Rutter, "What Child" by Paul Lohman, "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" arranged by Mack Wilberg, "What Shall We Give" also arranged by Wilberg, "O Come All Ye Faithful" arranged by Willcocks, "Happy Holiday - White Christmas" arranged by Ed Lojeski, and "Hallelujah" from "Messiah."

Thomas Dahle directs the choirs, and accompanists are Sue Christian, piano, and Monica Weekes, organ.

Choir members from western Wisconsin consist of Bruce Douglas (Baldwin), Julianna LaBouliere (Menomonie) and Sara Route (Roberts).

Singers from Stillwater and Oak Park Heights include Elvira Antonson, Randy Bach, Val DuRocher, Linda Moses, Dan Roth and Wendy Haller (White Bear Lake).

From the East Metro area are Jack Bussiere, Mary Clymer, Jack DuRocher, Chris Gustafson, Sonja Hammond, Jon Mackereth, Tim Mueller and Steve Sorenson.

Tickets

Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for all students with a current ID.
