Choral festival is Thursday
The annual Fifth Grade Choir Festival is scheduled Thursday, Feb. 28, concluding with a public concert at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Director for the event is Carol J. Dahle, choral director at Hudson Middle School.
Approximately 140 fifth-grade students from Hudson elementary schools have been rehearsing their music after school with their teachers and Dahle. They have also been able to practice their music at home with the use of a CD recording of their music.
All of the students will be bused Thursday morning from their respective schools to the high school, where they will have a full day of rehearsing the music together. Sometime during the rehearsal day, the Hudson Chamber Choir, under the direction of Andy Haase, will come in to meet the students and sing some selections for them. The students will be bussed back to their schools before the end of the school day. In the evening, they will present the concert at 7 p.m. (singers should report to the high school by 6:30).
"For many of the students, this is their first real choir experience, and it's exciting to see the progress they have been making," Dahle said. "It's been a lot of fun for all of us."
Elementary music specialists involved in putting the festival together are Megan Anders (Houlton), Lindsey Andress (Willow River), Dan Baumgartner (Rock), Amy Gallick (Hudson Prairie) and Linda Walbrun (North Hudson).
Accompanist during the day and for the evening's concert is Dan Baumgartner.
