Construction is expected to begin soon on the big warehouse and office facility next to Hanley Road and Hwy. 35 on the city's southeast side.

"I think this is a great opportunity for Hudson and I thank you for taking the time to do it right," Alderperson Mary Yacoub said to the architect and three company officials representing Uline at Monday night's meeting.

Yacoub, who lives on the other side of Hanley Road from the future facility, was pleased with its landscaping plan, which will include 99 trees on the north side of the facility, screening it from the homes in Red Cedar Canyon.

Architect Ed Farr said the company is offering to plant 37 trees on land it doesn't own to ensure adequate screening.

In response to an alderperson's question, Farr said Uline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but the facility would be closed Friday and Saturday nights for cleaning.

He said the company doesn't allow truck idling on its property and doesn't use noisy refrigerated trucks.
