Senior party raises 'fun'

A fund-raiser for the 2009 Hudson senior all-night party will be held at Badlands Sno-park on Friday night, Feb. 27. $5 from each sno-tubing ticket sold will be donated to the all night party -- mention Hudson High School when purchasing tickets. Badlands Sno-park is open Friday from 4-9 p.m. and offers four groomed and lighted slopes for tubing. Admission is $15. Discuss burning techniques

The Prairie Enthusiasts organization is offering a class on prescribed burning techniques at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the Warren Town Hall, 720 112th St., Roberts. Bill Ramsden of the Minnesota chapter of The Nature Conservancy will discuss why we burn, how to prepare the site, what a prescription is, the equipment used, the process of doing a ring fire, fire effects and factors that influence fire behavior. Garden club hears about birds

Jim Fitzpatrick will present "Backyard Birds" at the Hudson Home and Garden Club meeting Tuesday, March 3, 1 p.m., at The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St. Fitzpatrick is one of only seven people to have made a confirmed sighting of the ivory billed woodpecker since 1944. He also has served for 25 years as the executive director of the Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center in Hastings, Minn. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Lenten Trysts begin March 4

The 33rd annual Lenten Tryst series begins March 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church's downtown campus, 1205 Sixth St. The series runs from 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesdays through April 1 for prayer, singing and a message in preparation for the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus. St. Croix Valley YMCA is holding its annual Rally Day summer registration event Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families can register their children for summer programs. Talent show tickets go on sale

Tickets go on sale the week of March 9 for "Hudson Youth Have Talent - On the Road to Stardom," a teen talent show sponsored by Youth Action Hudson to be held at the Hudson High School auditorium Saturday, March 14. Tickets are $10 for general admission and will be available at the HHS box office and by calling Youth Action Hudson at (715) 386-9803. The night of the performance, doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7. Awards will be made in several categories including an Audience Choice Award which will be determined by applause.
