Convicted sex offender planned to kill children unless released
Authorities say David Day, convicted sex offender, wanted out of prison so bad he planned to have five children killed unless the governor granted him a pardon.
Day is accused of coming up with a plan to have his 12-year-old victim's mother kidnapped and killed unless the boy recanted his testimony.
When cops got wind of that plot he switched to even more brutal tactics, planning to hire someone to kidnap the boy and his brothers and sisters and impale them unless the governor gave him a pardon and $1 million.
Authorities say Day and his brother discussed the plot in code when his brother visited him in the county jail.
