County-wide burn ban in effect
Dry conditions mixed with strong winds have caused all area cities, villages and townships in St. Croix County to issue burn bans.
The only exception to the county-wide ban is the Village of Somerset, said Terry Andersen, with the county's emergency communications department.
"According to their e-mail they are allowing recreational burning yet," he said.
On April 1, the National Weather Service issued a warning that strong wind gusts, combined with near record high temperatures will result in near critical fire dangers by this afternoon.
In New Richmond's fire district, the burn ban is in effect until further notice.
