Cross-country ski lessons, bird talk/hike set
Cross-country ski lessons set
Five more cross country ski lessons will be held this winter at Willow River State Park. The first was conducted last Saturday.
Ski enthusiasts meet at the Nature Center from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to learn about ski waxing, ski equipment and techniques and to do some dry land training. Bring your ski poles, some sturdy trail shoes and dress for the weather.
There will be a $5 fee per lesson or you can become a member of the OWLs for $15 and attend all lessons for free. All levels and abilities are welcome; for ages 13 and up. Please call (715) 386-5931 to sign up for the lesson and get more information.
Mark your calendars, future ski lessons will be held on Dec. 30, Jan. 6 and 20, and Feb. 3 and 17. Training will be for both classic and skate skiing. You must have your own ski equipment. Vehicle admission is required.
Bird talk, hike set at park
A bird talk and full moon hike is planned for Saturday, Jan. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m.
Join Ed and Angie Colosky from Wild Birds Unlimited to learn about crows and nuthatches. Those attending may be surprised at how smart crows are.
Find out how otters and minks have fun in the winter. After the talk, take a full moon hike.
This event is free and open to the public. Park admission rules apply to all vehicles entering the park.
