"I am very excited about my decision. I took my official visit back in September. After meeting the coaches, the team and seeing the beautiful campus, I knew that CU was the perfect fit for me," Cumming said.

"The following weekend I took a recruiting visit to Duke, but by that time, I already knew that CU was where I wanted to go. I was really drawn to the strong history of Colorado's program, as well as its academics. I will be running for Coach Mark Wetmore and Coach Heather Burroughs."

Wetmore has been at Colorado the past 16 seasons, and has been head coach for the past 13 seasons. Colorado runs a combined program, with both men and women coached together under one staff, and they only recruit U.S. athletes, unlike many other Division I schools.

Colorado is a member of the Big 12 Conference. Since the 1990s, Colorado has had a combined 74 All-Americans, 21 conference championships, five NCAA team titles and four NCAA championships by individuals. Colorado has the country's longest streak of NCAA championship qualification and of Top 10 finishes, for both teams.

"I am very happy with my decision, and am so lucky to have had such great high school coaches, (Don) Krupa and (Jami) Holum," Cumming said, "to help guide me through high school athletics and ultimately achieve my dream of running at an NCAA Division I school."
