Darlene Stagg, 84

Darlene (Oswald) Stagg, 84, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, with her family at her side.

Darlene was born June 2, 1930, in Fertile, Minn., the daughter of Adolph and Christine (Hogenson) Oswald. She grew up and attended school in Fertile, graduating Valedictorian from high school. After graduation she worked in banking in Fertile, Minn., and Park River, N.D., and in accounting at the Ford plant in St. Paul.

On April 16, 1955, Darlene married LeRoy V. "Midge" Stagg of Bemidji, Minn. They made their home there and were members of Calvary Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a Stephen Minister and later was involved in glowing age club.

She was a great lover of classical music having studied piano under Mrs. Effie Barnard during her school years. She was the senior choir pianist for 25 years at Calvary where she performed many solos, accompanied many soloists and particularly enjoyed playing piano - organ duets. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and baking.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. In 2006, to be closer to their children, Darlene and Midge moved to Hudson, Wis., where they became members of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children Mark (Susan) Stagg of Cottage Grove, Minn., LeaAnn Stagg of Afton, Minn., and Timothy (Jody) Stagg of Hudson, Wis.; seven grandchildren, April, Sean, Melissa, Corinne, Nicole, Kiersten and Lauren; three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Anders and Zachary; and sister, Yvonne (Dan) Stagg of Spring Lake Park, Minn.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Midge; her parents; half-sister, Irma Eastman; and half-brother, Lloyd Olson.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. noon, on Sunday, July 20, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Hudson, with Pastor Mark Peters officiating.
