A state park between Mauston and Necedah will soon double in size.
The Natural Resources Board voted Wednesday to buy 923 acres next to Buckhorn State Park.
The land is owned by the Wisconsin River Power Co., and part of it borders the popular Castle Rock Flowage.
It will cost $3.6 million.
The company also donated another 265 acres which includes shoreland and an island.
The park was established 37 years ago on Juneau County's Buckhorn Peninsula.
