The land is owned by the Wisconsin River Power Co., and part of it borders the popular Castle Rock Flowage.

It will cost $3.6 million.

The company also donated another 265 acres which includes shoreland and an island.

The park was established 37 years ago on Juneau County's Buckhorn Peninsula.

Officials say the new land will be used for a variety of outdoor recreation including fishing, cross-country skiing, hiking and hunting.

Also, the Department of Natural Resources Board voted to buy 347 acres of farm land, woods and wetlands in the North Branch Wildlife and Farming Heritage Area.

The cost is $1.2 million. It's meant to prevent future development.
