DNR continues bear investigation
With the help of reward donations, the DNR continues to investigate the shooting death of a black bear near Star Prairie while it was apparently hibernating.
DNR Warden Paul Sickman said a total of $1,750 has been put up including $500 from Star Prairie Fish and Game, $500 from Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association, $250 from Mid-State Houndsmen Association and $500 from various private parties.
Sickman said the incident is still under investigation. The bear was apparently shot while hibernating in a culvert, decapitated and found in the town of Somerset in February.
