Dog shot with arrow reunited with owner
River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

A dog shot in the chest with a three-foot-long arrow and left for dead in Somerset township April 27 has been reunited with his owner. Dr. John Swingle of the Countryside Veterinary Clinic in New Richmond says it's a miracle that the arrow he removed from Buster the Boxer didn't hit any vital organs.

The dog faces a long recovery as the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department searches for a suspect. Buster's unemployed owner faces thousands of dollars in veterinarian's bills.

Chief Deputy John Shilts says criminal charges may be difficult to bring because state law allows residents to protect themselves and their property and livestock from dogs. He says animal cruelty charges are a possibility because the person who shot Buster April 27 left him to die.
