Downed power line on Carmichael Road caused Thursday's outage

Xcel Energy trouble crews found a downed power line on Carmichael Road north of Interstate 94 shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27.

The downed line was believed to be responsible for the outage that affected 2,848 customers in the Hudson area, beginning at 4:07 p.m.

Xcel Energy spokeswoman Liz Wolf Green said the crew was expecting to have power restored shortly, when she contacted the Star-Observer at 7:30 p.m.

She said the outage was likely weather-related. A heavy wet snow fell on the Hudson area Thursday afternoon and into the evening.

Several private callers notified the Star-Observer of the power outage. The first caller said it was in the area of the businesses south of I-94, but callers north of the freeway said the electricity was out there, too.

The city Public Works crew was said to be opening or placing stop signs at intersections controlled by traffic lights.
