Drewiske traded to Canadiens
Hudson native and National Hockey League player Davis Drewiske was traded from the Los Angeles Kings to the Montreal Canadiens just before the NHL's trading deadline last Tuesday, April 2.
Drewiske, a member of the Kings' Stanley Cup championship winning team in 2012, was honored with his teammates March 26 at the White House, where the team presented President Barack Obama with a Kings No. 44 jersey, the same number worn by Drewiske. Obama is the 44th president of the United States.
Drewiske was traded to the Canadiens April 2 for a fifth-round draft pick.
Drewiske had one goal and three assists in 20 games for the Kings this season and averaged 14 minutes, 27 seconds of ice time per game. He was signed as a free agent by Los Angeles in 2008 and has four goals and 18 assists in 126 career games.
Drewiske joins a Canadiens team that's currently second in the NHL's Eastern Conference standings. He has yet to score a point in three games while averaging nearly 19 minutes of ice time.
