For the fifth straight time, Brett Favre has said no thanks to playing in the Pro Bowl.

He was the fans' top choice for the NFL All-Star Game on Feb. 10 in Honolulu.

However, the Green Bay Packers said Favre's chronically-sore ankle will keep him out once again.

The veteran quarterback has been named to nine Pro Bowls, but he hasn't played in one since 1996.

He was supposed to be the NFC's starting quarterback with his own coach Mike McCarthy on the sidelines.

The starting job now falls to one of two other quarterbacks; former Favre back-up Matt Hasselbeck of Seattle, or Burlington-native Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jeff Garcia of Tampa Bay will replace Favre on the NFC roster.
