Former Eau Claire pastor resigns; admits sexual misconduct
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America -- Northwest Synod of Wisconsin -- says a clergy member has resigned his post and admitted sexual misconduct while he was at an Eau Claire church.
The Rev. William Roman was an associated pastor at First Lutheran Church in 1975 and '76 when the misconduct occurred.
The church has asked parishioners to contact it if they might have been assaulted by Roman during that time.
Bishop Duane Pederson says the church is trying to be transparent, not secretive, with its congregation and the public.
He says he knows printing a letter circulation to church members could lead to legal issues in the future.
The bishop says the church simply doesn't know if anyone else was assaulted.
