Former Hudson postal worker sentenced for stealing drugs from mail

A former U.S. Postal Service employee in Hudson has been sentenced for stealing prescription drug from the mail.

Kristie Le Nelson, 35, who now lives in Milwaukee, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs Nov. 26 in a plea agreement.

Judge Edward F. Vlack sentenced Nelson to probation for two years. She was fined $243. A 60-day jail sentenced was stayed and 15 counts of theft and illegally obtained prescriptions were dismissed.

The criminal complaint said Nelson took prescription drugs mailed to patients at the Hudson post office during her 4 a.m. – 10 a.m. shift Aug. 6.

Postal inspectors contacted Hudson police about the situation who stopped Nelson after her shift and arrested her for OWI. Police searched her car and found Oxycodone and other drugs without prescriptions and 10 stolen postal packages containing pills.

Nelson was convicted of driving under the influence of a restricted controlled substance and fined $761.
