Former locals shine in marathons
A pair of former Hudson residents took top honors in a pair of prestigious marathons earlier this month.
Ryan Meissen, 31, now of Mukwonago, outdueled running partner Aaron Nodolf to win the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon Oct. 3 in 2 hours, 24 minutes, 53 seconds. Meissen and Nodolf are both members of the Wisconsin Runner Racing Team.
Also Oct. 3, Jason Finch, 32, of River Falls, won the Portland Marathon in Oregon in 2:24.13.
Another former Hudson resident, Ryan Donovan, now of Ft. Collins, Col., finished 39th overall at the Twin Cities Marathon Oct. 3 with a time of 2:34.54. A 2000 graduate of Hudson High School, Donovan was invited to run as an elite athlete after winning the Colorado Marathon in May.
The highest local finisher at the Twin Cities Marathon was Melissa Burkart, who placed 152nd overall with a time of 2:50.19. The top local male finisher was Forrest Pearson in 368th place with a time of 3:06.15.
