Fourth Fond du Lac high school student dies in two weeks
Counselors return to Fond du Lac High School today (Monday) to help students deal with the traffic death of a fourth student in the last two weeks.
Sophomore Candy Holstein, 16, was killed Saturday in Taycheedah. Authorities said the car in which she was a passenger drove through a stop sign and collided with an SUV.
The 16-year-old car driver and a 17-year-old passenger were hurt. An investigator said the driver's inexperience was the only real factor.
Marian Sheridan, the head of Fond du Lac's school safety programs, calls it another horrific loss after three other high school students died in a crash two weeks ago.
Sheridan encouraged parents to send their kids to school today, so they can be in a safe place with counseling available.
